[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Not far from the road, at the junction towards Red Rock Canyon, we observed this large bear picking away at something. It is very unusual for grizzlies to come this far down searching for food. They are usually found much higher up and well away from the beaten paths. For taking the picture, I am situated about one third of the way between my car and the bear. Calculating that bears can run as fast as a horse, and no tree anywhere, I figured I'd make it back should he be bothered by my presence. So this is the best I could get with the camera I had. In the meantime, my wife was freaking out in the car.
scan from 4x6 photo, resized and sharpen (it's a novelty shot, I know it's not very sharp), a bit of color work in photoshop.

Hello Otto

You had all bases covered. This is a lovely landscape shot, bear or no bear.It looked like a beautiful day with big white puffy clouds. And a great big blue sky.I like the composition and colours of the mountains. The bear is a secondary bonus to the shot.TFS

Hello Otto,
It is always pleasant to see wildlife photographed in its natural habitat!
Besides... It is a nice landscape shot, well composed and with good colours!

Hi Otto,
Great shot of meadow, hills, and sky, with that lone grissly keeping it's distance :) Very good color and exposure..Perhaps a bit sharper would be better.
Well done & TFS!

Hello Otto,
the bear from safe distance in its habitat, the scenery shown in brilliant colours, and the story you tell in your notes make this picture very remarkable, exciting, and valuable. I admire your courage, and I can understand your wife.
Thank you my friend, and my best regards,

Looks just like my adventures in interior of Alaska around and in Denali Park. They are amazing animals, dont they. I think is a very nice shot despite the softness!

ha ha I think I'ld be freaking out too! Glad you didn't get out of the car to get any closer! TFS

Thanks also for your comments on my photo " Chip Chip Chippy! (22)" :o)
