Male Rufous Hummingbird. One of the most aggressive of the hummingbirds found in Canada. Bold, curious and vocal. Seen using my flash units as a resting place at times, once landing on my lens hood.

excelent macro, and wonderfull composition and coloure;-))

haha your note is so funny. this is a pretty good 'flying' shot. it's hard to capture them when they're in motion, especially hummingbirds because they are so fast. The details here are sharp. I would be tempted the crop out the flower hanging down and maybe the leaf as well?

Hi Walter

Great shot, the composition is lovely and what a great pose with the wimgs forward rather than the classic backwards pose, the colours, nice detail and wonderful colours.

TFS Hilary :o)

The colors on this one are gorgeous, Walter.
Exposure and light are perfect.
How do you freeze their movements?
Incredible! Great stuff.

I am always impressed this kind of action shot. These birds are so fast. Exposure, sharpness and DOF are great. At 1/250s you have good details. The pose also is beautiful.
Congratulations Walter and TFS.

Hello Walter,

Great picture of this rufous Hummingbird which I saw when I went to Denver Colorado last year! You master perfectly the exposition and the flash by having those wonderful colors! The darker bg enhances greatly the bird! I'm surprised that 1/250 is enough to catch those great details of the wings! Great pov also! Excellent job and TFS,

Very beautiful action shot! I find the bird's colours here really striking against the dark background and I quite like your composition including the bud and leaf - unusual!
TFS, Ulla

Hi Walter,
The high aperture gave you a good DOF, which is what you you'd expect but I'm amazed that you were able to get such a sharp shot of this hummer at as low as 1/250 shutter speed.
Well done!
Regards, Ivan

Salut Walter
C'est encore une excellente prise de vue que cet oiseau mouche en plein vol,C'est fantastique de voir les détails surtout les ailes avec la vitesse qu'elles battent. En plus nous avons cette belle fleur et ce beau BG.
Bravo et merci....JP
