Christan and I went hiking on a beautiful fall day in Waterton. I packed my SLR, she worked with a digital, no bigger than a zippo lighter. While I fiddled with changing lenses, she nonchalantly used me as bear bait to get a shot of this bear in landscape
By the time I had my lens changed, she had already a number of good pics in the can. Here is the condolence prize shot I got afterwards. No bear.

Hi Otto,
Nice capture! This is a great scene with wonderful colours. It is nice to see the shadows of the mountains in the distance. Perfect DOF. Perhaps slightly less foreground grass would improve the composition? just my thoughts.
Thanks for the informative note. I remember your wife's image well as I was quite surprised to see the bear in the scene. But I'm sure she was just keeping an eye on the bear to make sure that you were safe while changing lenses ;)

Nice colors and nicely composed, Otto. But you need to go digital, man! You'll get much better clarity.

Hi Otto,
beautiful classical approach to landscape with colours arranged in a magnificent way. This image is full of light, I love the powerful warm hues of ochre against the blue depth of distant peaks. Perfect composition. Wonderful.
Even without a bear. But who knows, I guess there's a dozen bears hiding in that landscape. As you made a classical analog picture on film, you are in a position to make some good blow up.
With thanks, and best regards from bearless Vienna,
Peter

Hi Otto,
Very nice bluish color gradient of the mountain. Spectacular autumn color. I lived in temperate climate for more than 5 years, and this is what I miss: colorful autumn leaves. Great shot of this beautiful landscape.

Otto es muy precioso este lugar, excelente disparo y genial compo. saludos

Sounds like the story of my life! I can't begin to relate the number of shots and sightings I have missed whilst unzipping camera bags, changing lenses etc. We were just there a few weeks ago, but the colors were not this intense yet. This is a nice shot. It might have been a little stronger composition if the foreground grass area could have been slanted, rather than a rectangle.

Hello Otto,
I think what strikes me most is the superb color rendition of this film-to-digital technique. Well composed with a very nice autumn color mix. The golden FG helps to make it great! :)
Very well done.
