Black Chinned Hummingbird 3¼ - 3¾ inches - A small hummingbird, male green above with black chin and violet-purple gorget. Female green above with white throat and breast, buff sides and white tipped outer tail feathers. Voice: A low "tup". Found in mountain and alpine meadows, woodlands, canyons with thickets. 2 white eggs in an nest of fluffy plant wool and lichens woven together with spider webs placed in shrub or low tree. Breeds from British Columbia south throughout West to Mexico and central Texas. Winters in Mexico.

Also, in my opinion, the acrobat of the hummingbirds as they can really provide some strange positions for the camera. While not the sharpest image, the position is great!

hummingbirds are such wonderful birds, lucky you to
see and capture them! :-)
you´re right about the sharpness, not the best, 1/250 seems to
be not fast enough, but the pose is amazing, especially
the spread-out tailfeathers are great.
well seen & captured, thorsten.

Hi Walter,
Very interesting, very action shot:-) Great pov and so so clooose on the hard action moment! Stunning indeed!
Bravo and TFS!

Hi Walter,
Well I think the that sharpness in this image is not a big issue. In fact it conveys a sense of speed, which is associated with these little birds. The rest of the image qualities far outwiegh sharpness. Exposure is perfect, composition is strong and the BG is just amazing.
Well done.

Hello Walter

Splendid shot of this very beautiful hummingbird!
Indeed a very unique POV...i think that's the part i like most of this picture! i especially like the very visible feathers of the tail - nicely spread at this moment :)
Also great sharpness and excellent lighting. Lovely colors and DOF, too.

Nice action shot

Hi Walter,
I agree with you; this position is really nice :) Like I said before, I'm really amazed by the way you manage to capture those little creatures. I tried many time but I didn't not succed. Those details and colors are very nice; I'm just a little surprised by the noise seen in BG... Well done and thanks,
