[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
On this day we visited Maligne Lake and the day started out very sunny. This one I took in the afternoon, when the clouds came very quickly.
And just a couple of minutes after I took this picture, there was a big hailstorm that lasted about 20 minutes. After that as quickly as the clouds came, they went away again and the sun was back.
That's the story behind this picture and here is some info on Maligne Lake I looked up on the internet:

Maligne Lake is the largest natural lake in the Canadian Rockies. Ringed by snow-and-ice-capped mountains, the 22 km long lake stretches past serene Spirit Island right to the melt-water channels of Coronet Glacier. An open forest of lodgepole pine and spruce, home of moose, caribou and Harlequin Ducks and many other types of wildlife surround visitors at the north end of the lake.

Maligne Lake was originally known as "Chaba Imne" or Beaver Lake by the native tribes who lived near Jasper. In 1907 Mary Schaeffer, a wealthy Quaker from Philadelphia, learned of the mysterious lake. Following a map obtained from Samson Beaver, a Stoney tribesman, Mary found the lake and later wrote about her adventures, making the area a popular tourist attraction in years to follow.

Hi Nel,

Hi Nel,
Very nice landscape. It brings back good memories from my flying days in Alaska...;-)
Thanks,
Dave

Hi Nel,
A beautiful scene. Very well composed and framed. The weather up in the mountains can change in a very short time. Nice subdued colors, but the red canoes really draw your eyes here. A great sense of depth.

Nel,
Love the "impressive" reflection of the dark clouds
over the lake.
Great depth is highly noticable.
Well presented. Your notes are EDUCATIVE.TFS.
Extremely well composed.
Best regards,
Mario.

JL.

Hello Nel,
Not all days are sunny days, but still there are great photo opportunities!
You make well use of the interesting lighting, making some clouds and canoes stand out well...
Nicely composed image with good details, good sense of depth an the textures in the clouds make the sky attractive!
Greetings,
Pablo -

Very nice place Nel and very well depicted in this presentation.

I like it a lot: composition, POV, DOF, focus, sharpness, color, lighting, background, framing, notes.

I don't like it: the lack of the values of the image (I imagine that for ignorance of the same one).

Interesting compo, thank you for sharing.
A cordial greeting from Buenos Aires... Ricardo

Hoi Nel,
Groeten,
Niek

It is so cool with dark grey clouds in the same picure as sun lighting up the scenery!
The contrast between the top and middle part of the picture is great. It looks like two different worlds. I really love this diversity in nature and the weather!
Nicely captured!

Hoi Nel! Prachtig he, dit gebied??

Groet,
Pieter
