|My brother & I came across this owl while searching for Great Grays. At first we did think it was a Great Gray - only a small one. However, it's dark eyes and smaller size indicates that this is a Barred Owl - a first sighting for me! |
I was able to snap off a few shots before it took off (I have that "almost" photo too (poor framing))

Good capture Lissa. You were lucky. Never seen a barred owl but would like to. Considering the conditions, it is a very good capture. You should try to follow the 2/3 rule. The subject would be more interesting in the frame.
Is it the same wire as your Mighty Hunter was took on?
Nice Lissa, but IMO too much space around the Owl and you have it centered. Other than that, a very nice shot with good OOF BG. I love the subject. Good work. TFS
