[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
This Great Blue Heron was shot in the Little Calumet River while I was riding on the bike trail that run along the south bank.
Unfortunately, I only had a point & shoot camera (Fuji S700 - not my normal camera) with me, but took about 3 shots before the heron flew away. This camera only saves in JPEG format.
In PS5 cropped the image and ran it through Nik Dfine and Nik Sharpener to reduce as much noise as possible and sharpen it as much as possible before JPEG pixelation occurs. Finally, some minor color balance and work in curves.
While not the sharpest image (but the best with the equipment on hand), I was otherwise pleased with the capture and the reflection. |

Hello Larry,
The vertical presentation works great for this particular image. The reflection plays a vital role in the appearance of this shot, as it just wouldn't be as eye appealing without it. Nice sharp focus, natural coloration and just the right amount of exposure. Well done!!
