Mature bald eagle, ready to strike.
With sharp eyesight a Bald Eagle swoops down to collect its prey while fishing.
With legs and talons outstretched, a large adult bald eagle comes in close to shore to snatch a fish from the water.

A Bald Eagle can spot prey from several hundred feet above the water while flying, soaring and gliding above. Their eyesight is at least 4 times sharper than the human eye plus they can focus forwards and to the sides at the same time.

To watch a bald eagle fishing by keeping a sharp look out then turning in mid flight and swooping down to catch its prey is amazing. The amount of control as well as power exerted by these fine looking birds is a sight to behold.

Hello Peter,
A really great action shot capturing him at just the right moment. Love the fine detail of his out-streatched wing feathers, and also his intence gaze as he is focused on his prey.
Beautiful vivid coloration with just the right amount of exposure. Those talons look like they could really do some damage to an unsuspecting animal. Super photo!!!

Hi Peter,
superb and dynamic image of the eagle about to strike.I like those talons out like they are and the details are very fine overall and the only thing that hurts the image a little is the loss of high light detail in the bird's head.A very well executed photo of this noble bird and thank you for giving us the chance to view it,a new favourite for me!
