The sun shined gloriously the next day after our last snow storm in April. The migrating mixed flocks that had arrived here the day before during the storm stayed a few more days for refueling and rest. This Finch looks warmer and a bit happier than my previous posting of "Purple Finch In April Snow". Today the snow is all gone and so are most of the birds that dropped in to refuel during that snowstorm. Most likely they took flight on the strong south winds we've had heading north to their summer breeding grounds.

This is superb, Richard, beautiful shot of a beautiful bird. I am glad to read they're coming up north, I shall see them soon! I love the background, the bokeh is beautiful and the colours natural and clear. The finch is well exposed and absolutely lovely! Thank you Richard,

Hello Richard,

Although the image is as sharp as can be, it also has a most wonderful sence of softness provided by the colors, light and BG.
Perfect composition with great exposure and DOF.
Very beautiful colors, contrast, light and feather details.
Very well done. TFS!!!

Best regards, Harry

Hi Richard

Great close-up with great detail and isolation - the pattern in the OFF BG is lovely too.

Hello Richard, I like this composition, the colour is very good, with excellent detail and you got the catch light. What really does it for me in this shot though is the bokeh you attained by shooting at an aperture of f/3.7. That is awesome, and provides a very natural looking background for the bird.

Thanks, John

Hi Richard.
Once more great picture of fine bird. I like the species and its reproducti9on a lot. You managed to reflect every nice colour tone and every feathers of the bird. Inclines wig give a charm to all scene. BG is wonderful and very impressive too. Well done and TFS.

The usage of a tripod ensured the perfect sharpness of the bird's image in this fine super-tele-macro study Richard, the open-shade illumination created a soft-focus effect on the plumage and the colouration characteristics of this fine specimen. Such a beautiful composition with the pleasantly fuzzy, light greenish BG. TFS my friend.

Hi Richard

What a beautiful Finch. We don't get them like this in the UK...

I really like the focus and the soft light BG in this picture.

Hi Richard,
Outstanding shot of this colourful Purple Finch with such amazing colours and sharp details on its plumage. A fantastic pose captured here and it really is showing off its plumage, I feel. Excellent DOF isolates it from the BG and a well chosen POV. Very nicely composed. Kudos.

Hello Richard,
A lovely and splendid shot of this beauty my friend.
Great composition, nice colours and wonderfull DOF.
I especially the BG.

A most pleasing image Richard, the BG here helps to make it great.
Excellent comp, detail, DOF, POV, and pose. The subtle color variations or tones in the birds plummage are very nice as well :)

I do wish I could catch one such as this...all of mine are male house finches and not quite as lovely as their near cousins...very well seen Richard.

I am amazed with the quality of your shots. Birds are hard to capture as far as I am concerned because of the thick tropical foliage. You have muted the background very well here keeping all the busyness away. Another flawless image and have a wonderful weekend. Regards. Jusni
