The Eastern Eyed Click Beetle is quite a sight with it's two large eye spots and 1 inch size. I found this particular specimen sitting motionless on a thorny plant stem.

The interesting thing about click beetles is their unique ability to lay on their backs when feeling threatened and then being able to quickly flip (or click) right side up.

A friend of the gardener, click beetles feed on wood boring larva and leave crops alone.

Very impressive picture of this peculliar beetle, despite its grey-dark color you succeded to project its buty with flash and dark BG, very nice composition, great DOF, excellent clarity.
