[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
There is hardly a day goes by that I don't see one of these large scavengers circling the fields behind the house. With a face that only a mother could love and a wing span up to 6 foot, they can be quite scary looking to a little boy, as I well remember from my younger years.

The Turkey Vulture or Turkey Buzzard, is the clean up crew of the bird world. With an extremely keen sense of smell these birds seem to be able to find even the smallest amount of carrion lying in the brush.

I had the good fortune to come across two vultures sitting along the roadside while at Salt Fork State Park. When circling overhead they look almost all black, but as you can see their plumage is made up of a mixture of black and brown feathers.

I will post another photo in the WS.

Hello Ron,
Nice click, the feathers and its details are gorgeous, good composition, nice DOF, well done.

Hello Ron,

Hi Ron

Very beautiful images of Turkey Vulture, beautiful plumage, great DOF, nice POV, great sharpness and details, interesting info.

Hi Ron,it turn the head in the right moment for the perfect pic..just for you..ehehe...beautiful capture of this turkey vulture,i like the WS too with a classic pose very sharp and bright, well done! Have a nice day and thanks,Luciano

I agree with you, Ron; only a mother could fall for that face. :)
But its plumage is a different matter. You have captured it well from an almost dorsal perspective but with the head of the bird sharply turned around.

Hola Ron, hermosa foto con luo de detalles de esta bella especie, me gusta la composición y el enfoque del ave además de la posición de la misma...saludos.

Hello Ron,
Well captured this Turkey Vulture. You are to get such beautiful (?) Species in your back yard. Vulture is totally wiped out from our village in India due to use of poison in the field. They will never back again in our village! Well composition using right side plant. A bit crop from left side would have been more appealing, in my test.
Thanks for sharing,

Hi Ron,

The vegetation is framing well the bird. The point of view is showing the details of the Turkey Vulture. It is very sharp. The good luminosity is enhancing the colors. Have a nice day.
