[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
FIELD GUIDE: In the past 25yrs bluebirds have become uncommon in the East for reasons not altogether clear. Competition for nest sites with the European Starlings & House Sparrows is likely a critical factor. The erection of many artificial nest boxes in the recent years seems to be helping increase the population.

Jane,
Nest boxes have certainly helped the Bluebirds to make somewhat of a comeback. I heard of a person who lives in my area who dedicated a lot of time to building such artificial homes. The beauty of this is that it worked! Quite a number of boxes are now occupied.
You've photographed this one very nicely. Although a metal fence is not the most 'natural' setting, it is however a common place for those birds to sit. This is a very nice presentation. TFS.
Best Regards,
Martin

Jane,
Very good image of this female bluebird. Nice pose and good detail.
We have them nesting in our back yard every year, and they are a lot of fun to watch as they raise their young.

well done and TFS
cheers
Tony
Hello Jane,
Let's hope they increase, with the support being provided.
A lovely capture. The bird has an interested pose, allowing the light to refect in its eye and warm the colours of its breast. Good composition.
Kind regards,
Bev :-)
