In Vermont? Really? Ha! Wishful thinking on the birds pat..maybe he has a secret hide away..I lived for a bit in the White Mountain area..in a not very well heated Mongolian designed yet wooden Yurt..Franklin was the town..and I was there in the dead of 20 below in winter....wow! It was somethign I shall never forget...but I am older than this aviary..:-)

What a beautiful capture.
The snow falling and the diagonal feel of the composition is very pleasing to the eye.
As is the grey OOF BG and the contrast of the bright breast feathers.
Excellent detail and focus.
The crabapples add a nice accent colour to the shot.
I have this very situation just north of you in Ontario, near the NY Canada border. There is an injured Robin hanging around my tree and another Robin keeping it company. Each day I figure they face tougher and tougher times. For now they eat the crabapples, but they will not sustain them.
Thanks for sharing this wonderful image.

what a beautiful capture.
smart exposure with f11 and 1/60. the effect created on the water drops make this image special.
i will prefer a smaller resolution.

it is so much easier to take pictures in bright sunshine, but you will never get this kind of ambiance captured in this scene
like it very much

What a splendid image of this Robin in the fresh snow, we too have them try to overwinter at times. I guess birds can be lazy too. Thanks for sharing this sharp, well colored image Jane.

Thanks for your kind critique. It made me have a look at your bird-gallery, full of interesting pictures. This one with its wintery atmosphere and the fine colors of the bird's plumage is very pleasant,a shot with an artistic touch. Very well done
have a nice Sunday
