Came across alot of squawking this one trek and lo and behold there is a nest of Egrets!

Ordinarily the Egrets are so silent, elegant but these chicks! LOUD and DEMANDING and thankfully so. It's the reason this capture could even be shared!

Here is what I found out about the Egrets online at All about Birds from Cornell's Lab of Ornithology

The elegant Great Egret is a dazzling sight in many a North American wetland. Slightly smaller and more svelte than a Great Blue Heron, these are still large birds with impressive wingspans. They hunt in classic heron fashion, standing immobile or wading through wetlands to capture fish with a deadly jab of their yellow bill. Great Egrets were hunted nearly to extinction for their plumes in the late nineteenth century, sparking conservation movements and some of the first laws to protect birds

Size & Shape: Great Egrets are tall, long-legged wading birds with long, S-curved necks and long, dagger-like bills. In flight, the long neck is tucked in and the legs extend far beyond the tip of the short tail.

Color Pattern: All feathers on Great Egrets are white. Their bills are yellowish-orange, and the legs black.

Behavior:Great Egrets wade in shallow water (both fresh and salt) to hunt fish, frogs, and other small aquatic animals. They typically stand still and watch for unsuspecting prey to pass by. Then, with startling speed, the egrets strike with a jab of their long neck and bill.

Habitat: You’ll find Great Egrets in both freshwater and saltwater habitats. They are colonial nesters, typically placing stick nests high in trees, often on islands that are isolated from mammalian predators such as raccoons.

Very cute Egret chick, Brenda. Look at that sharp and eager eye, full of anticipation for life!
Excellent white balance control and fabulous capture.

Hi Brenda,
Excellent facial expression taken with immaculate precision!! I just love that eye detail and the facial colors. Your management of the white balance was perfect, not burnt out! The fact that the composition shows parts of other birds not fully does not matter to me, why, . . . because how do you separate a mother and chick at this stage? Excellent work Brenda.
Best regards,

Hello Brenda,
Right now I am sitting at my daughters computer in Nicaragua and enjoying the photos on TN. This is certainly an eye catcher as the young Egret is soooo cute. I love the almost surprised look it has on it,s face and colorful facial features. I,m also glad that it was noisey or otherwise you probably would have just passed it by.
Excellent focus which shows a lot of detail and white balance is perfect.
Great shot!!!
