A sunset shot from my recent trip to Florida. This was taken on a narrown strip of barrier island between Destin and Fort Walton Beach that is set aside as National Seashore, and cannot be developed.
The clouds were the effects of Tropical Storm Alberto which was abot 175 miles to the south at this point.
No sunsets over the Gulf of Mexico here. The angle of the summer sun goes back over the mainland. This is actually the saltwater bay between the barrier island and the mainland. This was my only acceptable sunrise/sunset shot of the whloe trip. In typical Florida weather, it would cloud up every day in the later afternoon.

I really had to work hard to find a scene that did not have high rise condo building, cell towers, or other man made structures.

Hi Scott, nice seascape. Beautiful colours and good clear detail. Well done in finding the scene as it is a well composed shot. Well done and TFS.

Hi Scoot, great landscape with good sunset colors.
I Know Florida is already a strip of building... as you said.
Nice compo and POV.

I know the feeling Scott, when presented with a marvelous sunset I reach for my camera and search franticly for a pleasant composition. In fact tomorrow I may post such a situation. Very good capture with clean compo and well handled exposure. The orange tones of this sunset are very nice. well done.

Hello Scott,
this sky is spectacular, great colors and the cloudformation is great. POV and timong are excellent just catching the sun before is sinks into the Ocean. Very nice depth and details.

Very beautiful sunset, Scott.
I love the colors in this image.

Hi Scott
What really stand out here is the thin line of the glowing warm light running above the horizon with the bright splash of sunlight peeking through on the 1/3 vertical axis. Above it are the dark threatening clouds and below it we find the dusky waters with just a delicate hint of reflection streaming over the surface.
Again your composition was well planned and executed having the triangular piece of beach cutting into the domain of the ocean at the 1/3 horizontal axis and ending almost on the 2/3 vertical axis.
The colours are great, the DOF carries well from the foreground unto eternity, and the exposure was well controlled with the 1/6s time exposure.
Excellent work and TFS.
PS. The purists might hint at the fact that the horizon is 1mm lower on the right, but I won't mention it (chuckle).

what a wonderful sunset you caught there. I like the light catching the water's edge on the foreground. It works really well helping to bring some brightness into the lower half of the picture.

Scott, the colours of the sunswet here are quite different from normal - the Tropical Storm Alberto has a lot to be thanked for! Pretty pink and orange. And seeing the sun setting over the land is good too. Well done,

LOL, how did you manage a nature shot in Destin? Great POV, nice image of the sun beneath the clouds.

Off to Italy in a couple of weeks...

Very nice sunset Scott,
Good detail, colours and sharpness. exposure and lighting are good. Good POV and composition.

Thanks for posting, enjoy the rest of the week.

Everybody has their favorite part of this picture and I have to say I enjoy the sun highlighting the clouds on the upper portion of this image. I like the small wave tops and the reflection as well. The flare of the sun is nice and not blown out which is difficult when your photographing the hardest subject to photograph (the sun). Nice work, great composition.

I´m thinking Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy! John Denver song, ahh skip the corney stuff. This is extremely pleasing sunset shot very relaxing to just sit and view on the screen, makes me feel like I´m there. Beautiful! :)

Hi Scott.
Fantastic capture, wonderful sunset postal, beautiful tones, colors, sharpness, details and composition, I like light sun color and contrast, good note.

an amazing landscape. Fiery red colors and well balanced. I like everything about this photo.

Hi Scott,
This one almost gives the idea that the horizon is on fire. The intens color of the sunset is really beautiful and I like the way you've composed it. With a small part of the beach in the f/g and the sun beautifully positioned on the left. I really like the lower band of color and then the return of the color in some parts of the clouds.
Great job my friend!!

Eerie stormy looking clouds! Beautiful!

Loot has said it all. It is a magical moment captured in its full glory.
