Yellow-crowned Night-Heron, Nyctanassa violacea

Description:

Medium-sized heron; 22-27" (56-69 cm). W. 3'8" (1.1 m).

Adult slate-gray with black head, white cheeks, yellowish crown and plumes, black bill, and yellow or orange legs.

Immature grayish brown, finely speckled with white above. Young Black-crowned Night-Herons similar but browner.

Useful for the collage:
- use layers (in PS)
- fill one layer black, select what will be the inner frame and delete -> creates the middle hole for the photos
- move black frame layer to the top/foreground
- arrange photos below (let slightly overlap with frame and/or each other to avoid gaps)

Technical:
Shots taken under similar conditions at the same location (time, light); vary around 1000/1600 sec, f/stop 6.3/7.1, ISO 400.
Could have used slower shutter speed to keep the ISOs lower.
