Hi Scott,
This is a fine action shot of an adult Yellow-crowned Night Heron hunting in its typical habitat.
This is pretty sharp and the main subject stands out well against the mangrove roots in a shot that is well composed.

Beautiful photo! I really liked your note about how you took this photo. This is my lens of choice too so that makes it even more interesting...

I like the composition and the low POV. I would have liked to read about the PP work in the computer and took the liberty to make a workshop, I hope you don't mind.

I really like the side and quite low POV here as well as the lovely and well saturated colors.
The sharpness is great considerring the rather poor light.
Very nice note and composition, too.

I have to admire your dedication to get shots like this - I think I will stick to camping in -12C rather than wading into what looks like a mangrove swamp with rather a lot of camera gear!

That said, I'll never get pictures like this. I long ago stopped trying to photo birds of any sort unless a really good opportunity arose.

What strikes me about this picture is the colour of the legs. they blend in so well with their suroundings it is untrue, but I guess that is why the catch their prey.

Hi Scott

I cannot figure out if this bird is actually giving a step or whether it is clawing at the mangrove roots. Whatever, it is a great moment you’ve captured of this very focused and intend bird. There must have been a little fish or frog that got hold of its attention for it does not seem to pay you any at all.

A great composition with this low POV. I love the dark result of the mangrove BG that the exposure metering on the birds plumage has created. It really makes the heron stand out of the frame. The colours are great and the details are remarkable.
