[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a Meerkat (Suricata suricatta).
I met this cute animal and many more of them in a zoo. Yes, i didn't get the opportunity to see them in some African desert, but someday. Who knows? :)

ZOO??!!! don't panic :)
This photograph satisfies TN's so called 'terms of service'! So lets just enjoy the mood.

Meerkats belong to the Mongoose family, 'Herpestidae'. These small African mammals are well known for their colony culture, as well as 'skilled hunters'. Meerkats fearlessly attack, kill and eat poisonous Scorpions, one of their favourite foods. A 'sentry' is always on duty to warn the colony of Vultures swooping down from above and hungry Jackals lurking in the bush.

They love digging tunnels. It's kind of underground network, where they stay at night. Even during the daytime, if they feel too hot due to sunbathing, they go into their burrow and press their belly against the cool earth :)
These burrows/ tunnels are also used as 'safe' nursery.

Zoo ...Zooo ..how dare to post an image taken in captivity Miss Sarkar ! This maybe in line with those so called rules, but for many here this can be seen as a personal attack !!! Not Natural for many means WRONG ! Damn! The same as the Post processing .... work of Devil! Grrrr! You should be punished with tons of little green points and you wont sleep for the next 100 years ..... girl!!! Ha ha ha haaaa.......
Well Ruby sorry for this early morning/evening nonsense ! Beautiful photo of course, filled with tenderness, love and charm. Lets do not forget the "cool" warm African colors. Be..a..utiful ! Have a great weekend Ruby ...Take care!

I hope you get the opportunity to see the Meerkat in Africa Ruby!
But this is a fine preview, the pose being typical and taken with excellent sharpness from just the right POV. No sign of the zoo here, so no infringement of the TOS!
My only shot of a meerkat was taken in the zoo at Stockholm but the ligting wasn't as good as this.
Thanks and have a good weekend,
Ivan

excellent closeup of meercat. good work. nice angle tfs.

Hallo Ruby
Taken in the zoo or not, this is a great image with lots of oomph to it, one being the natural sunlight that highlights the Meerkat's fur, that adds a sparkle to its eye and just makes everything just so pleasing to look at. Thanks for sharing. Best regards.
Anna
