[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I took this photo of a male Eastern Amberwing Dragonfly while at Radnor Lake in Nashville Tennessee. This is one of the smallest dragonflies in North America.

The female has a body similar to the male, but it's wings usually lack the amber coloration and have a pattern of dark patches on them.

Both male and female mimic the behavior of wasps as they move their abdomens up and down while perching.

Kathy Meader is happy now because she has a nice new camera and I was just out showing mine offf:-)

Your image is sharp and to the point. I now see that this time of year out here in the west, it is apparently time for these things...I actually have one I took today but I may save it for later...hope you got the image I sent you..and wonderful job here especially in the sharpness....close in and all..

Hello Ron,

I like your photo with the dragonfly. You got a very nice light in your image rendering nice colors of insect's wings and body. Good sharpnes with well addapted DOF showing well wing;s structure.

Thank you for sharing,
Cristian

Nice shot Ron, good and sharp, and an attractive insect. That's one I see around my home often, they breed in a small marsh right across the street from my house.

Thanks,
John

Hi Ron,

Nice, clear shot of the Eastern Amberwing. It stands out well on the background. In particular, those amber wings are displayed very attractively. I like it just the way it is. However, just for fun, I took a copy of your photo and cropped it with the stalk in the upper right corner of the landscape view. That permitted me to crop it smaller, and make the shot simpler. TFS.

John
