[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This summer Rosie and I visited our daughter Traci who lives in Nashville Tennessee. While there we decided to hike through Radnor State Park.

We were walking the lake trail when I heard a rustle in the bushes and out popped this doe. She stuck her head out just far enough to see if everything was safe. I took a shot of her before she decided to cross the trail. It was fairly dark in this part of the woods so used a flash to bring out detail.

The one unusual thing I noticed was how dark her face was. I believe this was an indication that she was an older deer and thus her facial markings were a bit darker then usual.

The whitetail deer have a reddish cast to their coats in the spring and summer months, but as winter approaches this is replaced by a darker grayish tint.

Hi Ron,

She is lovely as she pokes her head out of the foliage. Her face does show age but she is still beautiful. I love the ears, nose and eyes. She has a nice expression on her face and doesn't seem to mind your presence. Excellent colors, clarity and composition.

Hello Ron,
Great capture and fantastic title, she really is beautiful, superb sharpness and clarity, wonderful lighting, lovely colors and excellent eye contact.
well done.

excellent sharpness and details of the deer and the leafs,
and a wonderful eye-cotact with you, TFS

What a bright summery image on a gray and blustery day here. Sharpness and details are great. It is fun how just her head is clearly visible from behind that screen of greenery.

Evelynn : )

Hi Ron,

Nice shot, caught her at just the right time. Her face is quite dark, never noticed that in a deer before.

Around here, well-meaning but ignorant people feed the wild deer in the forest preserves, so the deer are becoming fairly-to-very tolerant of peoples presence, I may have to take advantage of that one of these days and get some close-ups of them.
