I have finally been able to post a photo of a bird with a blue sky in the BG., but I had to go all the way down to Tennessee to do it. Here in Ohio we have a lot of grey cloudy skies, so this is exciting to me. I suppose you can tell it doesn't take too much to get me excited.

While down is Tennessee I was able to get a few shots of their state bird, the Mockingbird. I posted one the other day, but I decided to post one more with this beautiful bright blue sky in the BG.

Taken hand held using Canon 4:1 /5.6 IS telephoto.

Hallo Ron,

The bird is sitting on a very nice perch. Both are well photographed and the image has a high quality. Composition of the photo is very good as there is a balance between the point where perches are starting, in the right, and the bird, in the left side of the image. Birds plumage and colors are well show as well as the nice texture of the wood.

Thank you for sharing,

Hallo Ron
You were greatly rewarded for the effort driving all the way to Tennessee. This is a beautiful photograph, with a charming bird as model, which you captured in a great pose against a lovely blue sky. The detail you captured of the bird's eye is amazing. I cannot recall that I have ever seen a bird with that colour iris. The catch light caught in the pupil is an additional bonus and reflects back to the viewer which makes it more special. The clarity of the fine hairs around the facial area and the inside of the tailpiece is delightfully displayed. Thanks for sharing.
Best regards.

Talk about blending in with surroundings..this one looks attached permanently to the branch:-) It is solid earth toned with a azure sky...Wonderful image Ron...

Hi Ron,

With that sky this picture could have been taken in Tucson! A perfect shot of this Mockingbird with excellent details and nice natural colors. The eye is amazing. I love the pose on the bare branches and the superb composition. I caught a glimpse of one the other day but haven't seen one up close for months.

Hello Ron,

Another excellent Mockingbird portrait. Beautiful blue sky, always nice to have that. Nice and sharp and a nice composition. Good job of getting this photo, I still don't have the technique for getting close enough to get a shot of a bird with a 300mm lens like this, and I'm too shaky to hand-hold at that length and get good sharpness.

Very nice composition with the curving branches and the bird's position complementing the curves. Good exposure against the sky, too. Gary
