oh, i was so astonished and happy to see this tiny Blue Jay, at first! well, yes.. i thought it was a baby Blue Jay.. nothing else came in my mind then! :D
stupid me! how could that big bird be so small even as a kid?! :D:D

okay friends, here's another new bird for me. a Tufted Titmouse (Baeolophus bicolor). i found this tiny, sweet, cute bird on my second day at Shelby Farms Park.

wish i had a tripod with me. the bird was tiny, at far, almost above my head. moreover, it appeared so suddenly that i even got no time to digest! :D the bird then stayed there for a while but was continuously moving.
well, don't know why.. may be out of all these factors.. my hands were trembling a lot.. i was not getting balance.. and most probably, i was afraid of losing the bird :)
wish i had a tripod then :-/

anyway, happy to meet another beautiful bird of this country. and happy to share :)

PS: was it a male, or female?

Hello Ruby....my neighbour for a time,

Hope you are having a good time in the US of A and sure are as is evident from these fine photos you are so persistently posting on TN..... a great merit indeed. This is an excellent shot but it seems you have not workshopped it so well but even then the effort counts and it is quite a fruitful one. Thanks a lot for sharing these exotic birds....take care....warmest regards/Abid

Hello Ruby. I love this bird! His hair tuft looks so kool. You got a good side portrait of him. The colours are good and so is th๋ DOF. A pleasure to see. TFS Trevor

Ciao Ruby, good capture of lovely bird in nice pose, splendid light and wonderful natural colors, very well done, my friend, ciao Silvio

Hello Ruby,
You did a good job considering you didn't have a tripod and the lighting wasn't on your side. The whitish colored sky must have given you fits while trying to get the correct exposure. These little guys hardly ever sit still, so just getting them in focus can be a real accomplishment.
What is really neat about these birds is the way they break open a sunflower seed. They pick it up and then fly off to the nearest branch. Then they hold it between both feet and vigorously hammer away at it like a woodpecker until they get to the kernal.
Hope you don't mind, but I wanted to see if I could cut down on the exposure a tad.
PS. As far as I know there isn't any visible defferance between the male and female. We have them come to our feeders all the time and they all look alike.
