another new butterfly for me. on my 3rd day in Shelby Farms Park. i met this butterfly around 11:30 am. good that i could manage the texture & colours of its wings in spite of its continuous movement and hard sunlight. it had always been a satisfaction to represent the gems of Nature with its actual dignity :)
yes yes, no comparison with technically more advanced machines, of course; but still i do love my camera :):)

this is a Red-spotted Purple butterfly (Limenitis arthemis). but don't know a male, or female.

there is an interesting fact about this butterfly. have you ever seen any White Admiral butterfly? White Admiral butterfly looks very different from our this Red-spotted Purple butterfly. but both of them carry the SAME scientific name!! interesting, na?

Hello Ruby,
This is one butterfly that is equally attractive whether it's wings are closed or open. I love this fully opened wing pose you captured. Nicely shown with beautiful vivid, yet natural coloration.
I believe this is a female because of the large brownish area found at the top of it's wing tips. Check out this link.

Hello Ruby,
Nice photo of this butterfly in good sharpness, details and natural colours. A bit more contrast is possible, I think.

Hi Ruby

Very nice specimen with rather unusual muted shiny colours and well captured inspite of direct light. A little bit more diagonal perch and there would have been some better composition options. Anyway still a interesting and beautiful species.
