|While talking about turtles, i remember this Red-eared Slider (Trachemys scripta elegans) i photographed almost a year back while in Tennessee. |
Red-eared Sliders were very shy and extremely sensitive to human movements. Only i know how i had managed going closer to them! Tricks.. ;)
This turtle, if i remember properly, was enjoying a smooth, relaxed swim in the huge lake inside our apartment community. Dexter Lake was full of these turtles, and being adjacent to my apartment, i had these Red-eared Sliders as my neighbours :)
I spent so many days, moments.. just by watching, studying and admiring them. Memories.
It was that shabby part of the lake.. a little narrower and calm. As usual, i went on a walk.. along the jogging trail, around the lake. I clicked many an interesting things.. including groups of turtles around this one. An easy trick, and i could go closer to this turtle.. hence this moment.. in its relaxed mood :)
Somehow, i love this photograph. That relaxed mood reflects..
Happy to share.
NB: The turtle was NOT floating, but swimming :):)

Your 'I' is still 'i', Ruby. You know what I mean. "I" like it.
So how's it going at your new location in the US?
This image of a swimming Turtle does suggest a relaxed mood. Very good capture from your Memphis days last year.

A great shot of this beautiful Red-eared Slider as it was taking a relaxing swim. I too remember how fidgety they were down in Nashville at Radnor Lake. I recall many instances when they would slide back into the water at the slightest hint that someone was approaching.
Looks like the water was pretty clear on this particular day, as you can see his whole shell in nice detail. Perfect exposure, as there isn't any glare off of the water to distract your view. Well done!!
PS. Are the birds at this time starting to migrate up in your area of the east coast?
Hi Ruby. I love this photo. It has such rich green colours to it. There's the perfect amount of lighting on the turtle showing off the detail really vividly. You've framed it perfectly as well. A feel-good shot that would make a great painting. TFS Trevor
