White Crowned Sparrow or Zonotrichia leucophrys

From birds.cornell.edu:

our of the five subspecies of White-crowned Sparrows are migratory. The sedentary race lives in a very narrow band along the California coast. The most widespread race, breeding across northern Canada and wintering in the eastern United States, is the least-studied and least well known of all the races.

# A young male White-crowned Sparrow learns the basics of the song it will sing as an adult during the first two or three months of its life. It does not learn directly from its father, but rather from the generalized song environment of its natal neighborhood.

# Because male White-crowned Sparrows learn the songs they grew up with and do not travel far from where they were raised, song dialects frequently form. Males on the edge of two dialects may be bilingual and able to sing both dialects.

Hi Angelina,
Excellent shot of this Sparrow among the natural surroundings. Very neat and sharp plumage with nice colours and markings. Superb lighting and the BG looks so special. I like the glint on its eyes and the way it looks over its shoulders at you. Great POV to portray it and very nicely composed. Kudos.

Hi Angelina

Lovely shot - the twigs add to the effect. I had never heard of a White Crowned Sparrow before - let alone that there are five sub-species!

Good morning Angy!
Great to see a post from you :)
Nice image you show us today.
Excellent composition leaving enough space for the birdie to look into.
Great DOF and you've done really well to get the focusing spot-on through all those branches.
Nice warm colours and good lighting.
Lacks a bit of sharpness but that is the only slight nit!
Well done,

Hello Angelina,
This is a very pretty Sparrow that you've captured pretty well here amongst the branches. I like its pose and the catch-light in the eye. Good light and fine colours. It could be sharper but it's hard as the twigs are often in the way and focus gets distorted.
TFS and best wishes, Ulla

Hi Angelina, beautiful white-crowned sparrow, it is probably one nesting in Canada and down south at your place. Some stop here, at my house, while migrating, with other species of sparrows. I think we are now a snack-bar for birds and a McDonald for cats ;-)

Nice picture of a bird glimpsed deep into the bushes where they hide and sing. We see clearly the beauty of this bird and the crown on its head. Thanks!

Hi Angelina.
Very cute shot of the beautiful sparrow. I like attractive, true nature surroundings created by twigs. Excellent exposure and details despite the light BG. BG is really surprising and fine too. My best wishes and compliments.
P.S. Many thanks for kind word of your comments.

Hi Angy,

It's so funny - I took almost the same shot yesterday! I love these little sparrows and oftentimes they will pose nicely, Nice details of the plummage and the crown. Your trees are barer than ours!!!

A beautiful capture, my friend. I love the pose, the way he is almost haughty, and yet in his own environment. I love the sharp details of your friend here and girl, you're beyond amature these days, I think.

Very nice job on this sparrow. Nice color and detail especially with him tucked behind the branches.
Very well done,TFS
