Golden or Queen of Bavaria Conure
Guaruba guarouba

The Golden Conure is listed on the IUCN Red List as endangered. This is largely due to deforestation and the capture of wild birds for aviculture, where it is in high demand due to the attractiveness of its plumage. Locally, they are considered as pests for feeding on crops, and are hunted for food or sport.

An example of the displacement of Golden Parakeets by habitat loss comes from the building of the Turucuí Dam, Pará, from 1975-1984. More than 35,000 forest dwellers were forced from what had been a habitat that was considered to be "among the richest and most diversified in the world." In addition, 2,875 square kilometers (1,110 sq mi) of rainforest were flooded, and 1,600 islands were produced by the flooding, all of which were heavily deforested.

sad notes indeed Paul! Good day and nice to be your neighbor today! Fine capture of this fantastic Golden Conure...perfect illumination, depth and clarity indeed. Most probably this bird is more common in the man-made cages than can be seen in the wild ...sad indeed, very sad! Who knows what their future will be...

Hi Paul,
The composition, colours, definition and overall quality are outstanding. A very pleasant image of this endangered species. Hopefully they will survive against the odds. Best wishes.

Beautiful colors with a an explendit light, sharpness, composition and background. A beautiful picture. Congratulation.

hi Paul,
such a beauty! good clarity and perfect exposure. the green and yellow contrast is a plus point of this photograph. DOF is awesome. i have not seen these Parakeets yet. don't know will be in future or not. but seems like am watching them with my own eyes... it's a shame that some people consider themselves as bird-lovers by keeping birds in cages. i have such people around me. pathetic.
loved this photograph. can't think them suffocate in a small cage. horrible!

the colours and light are beautiful
i like this picture

Hi Paul
Some pictures are too good to be true, the light is just perfect (like a studio portrait with a lightbox), the green bg perfectly assorted to the birds' colors, amazing sharpness and just perfect dof, from bill to tailtip.
But was this taken in the wild or in an aviary? To me it looks so perfect that there is something artifical in the picture.
Just my opinion

Hello Paul,
What a gorgeous pair of Golden Conure you have posted. I see they have posed perfectly, one showing the front and the other the side view. Their vivid yellow plumage with a touch of green it a stunning sight to behold. Exposure, sharpness and DOF is superb and the notes are very informative. Well done!!
