Castle Rock

In Canyon de Chelly, part of the Navajo Nation in north Eastern Arizona. There are Cliff dwellings that date from the 1100s and Navajo currently live in the canyon. The first europeans to see it were Coronada's Conquisadores in the 15th century. The the villages and cities that the Anasai built in the Canyons were uninhabited by that time. Speculation is that long term drought ruined their irrigation based agricultural society.

Hi Scott!

You present us a beautiful landscape picture with an interesting historical background. The colours and shapes of the rocks are very typical for that region and you have taken full advantage of this. The picture is very simple, yet so pleasant.

Kind regards
