Amazing rock formations seen along the "White House" Trail (2.5 mile round trip, 500 feet descent) down to the floor of Canyon De Chelly.
It is the only trail that lets you enter the canyon without a permit or an authorized Navajo guide. Though a national monument, Canyon De Chelly belongs to the Navajo Nation and is considered Sacred Land. Their people have lived there for thousands of years and continue to do so.

The trail is named after the "white house", the ruins of some ancient cliff dwellings. One of the walls had been white-washed and inscribed with "graffiti" from the 1800's. See White House and Ruins.

To get an idea of the scale, imagine yourself standing on the canyon floor. The low bushes would be about your height.

Canyon De Chelly
Canyon De Chelly (pronounced d'shay from the Navajo word "Tsegi" meaning "rock canyon") is a monument comprised of multiple canyons. Precise geological formations have been carved from two million years of water cutting through the sandstone. These deep gorges allowed humans to live uninterrupted in the area for more than 5,000 years.

Hi ManYee
These are amazing formations and from the trees providing scale one can see it is massive. Just think about the forces of nature that sculptured these formations over thousands of years. WOW.
A great composition with awesome colour, details, and DOF revealing amazing details.
Superb work and TFS.
