Another funny one:
"Yum.... Yum....," thought the vegan lion upon seeing the pretty flowers!

Lion
Panthera Leo

Diet
Cooperative hunting enables lions to take prey as large as buffaloes, rhinos, hippos and giraffes. However, scavenged food provides more than 50% of their dietsólions will often take over kills made by other carnivores. Females do 85-90% of the hunting, usually by setting up an ambush into which they drive the prey. The kill is not shared equally within a pride, and at times of prey scarcity, high juvenile mortality rates occur, as hungry females may not even share with their offspring.

Did You Know?
Most lions drink water daily if available, but can go four or five days without it. Lions in arid areas seem to obtain needed moisture from the stomach contents of their prey.
When males take over a pride, they usually kill the cubs. The females come into estrus and the new males sire other cubs.

This photo was taken at the Oakland Zoo.

Bellissimo ritratto, ottimo POV, molto buoni i dettagli. Grazie e complimenti. Ciao Maurizio

Hi Manyee,
This activity is true and applicable to all cats large and small. They usually eat grass and tend to vomit in case of food poisoning or over eating. Very good details and a lovely composition. Thanks a lot for sharing.

He he :-D A vegan Lion?! Never thought I'd say that! :-)
What a nice image Manyee!
Nice warm light and great colours.
Superb action (if you can call licking "action"... I like it anyhow) :-)
Sharp and crisp.
Well done!

Joe

Looks like another beautiful California day. Let's see, so far today we've had rain, snow, hail, sun, wind, repeat. In other words, a typical Oregon spring day.

I like your vegan lion. Sounds a bit better than eating cubs! It is a nice sharp image all the way through.

Hi ManYee

This must be a dandy-Lion believing in flower-power or maybe he was just day dreaming about a big juicy piece of buffalo thigh.

A lovely sharp shot of the "king of this meadow" showing excellent facial details (especially on that tongue) and a nice dark mane. This actually makes me wonder as the black manned lions are considered to be a variation of Panthera leo and in Southern Africa is only found in the Namibian region. Good composition and great lighting control.

Good work MF and TFS.
Regards
Loot

Hello Manyee,
Look at the tongue on him, I bet he could lick the brass off a door knob in one lick. Excellent image and funny caption, thanks for sharing Manyee.
