The Evil Eye
|[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note|
|Protagonist: young female GREAT HORNED OWL (Bubo virginianus). |
Location: Sata Rosa Mountains, southern CALIFORNIA
Where: the old attic cliché ...
Fact: next to its male companion, be very aware males are extremelly violent and protective as he attacked me, this is a large prey bird. First they give warning signals: bulging eyes, spinning head 360 degrees and clamping its powerful beak loud (sounds like crushing bones...) and spreading its wings to a full extent afterwards eventually they attack if cannot escape by flying away.

Ohhh chilling note. I love the shot Radu, it potrays the bird as you have described it with those menacing eyes! Beautiful work, well done.
Radu, Great perspective from below like this emphasizing your theme well! Good detail at the head & eye. Great post!

The eye is stunning. The low angle gives an interesting perspectice and the DOF and color is excellent.
