Sunset in the Santa Rosa National Monument. A male desert bighorn sheep gazed the horizont and I was there at the right time and the right moment. The desert bighorn sheep (Ovis candensis desertica) is endangered and here they are protected inside the locally famouse Bighorn sheep preserve, where efforts to repopulate areas from Mojave to Mexico have started and succeeded.
All I can say is I wish I had a circular polariser when I took this image or at least a warm up but I got taken by surprise when tried to do landscape in fact ... At least I had the built in telephoto and the TC which saved the day ...

Radu, Great shot although I must say it's bit of bad luck this Bighorn wasn't co-operating with its pose this day. I admire your being out there & getting these shots where they live. Beautifully rugged terrain. Thanx!

Very nice shot Radu. Pity he didn't co-operate in a more friendly way. It would have been nice to see his big horns from the other side. The composition is just great and I like the soft colours - well done.

So,this is what a bighorn is. I see it written on ATVs (Isuzu) and wonder what sort of creature a bighorn could be.
I bet you keep real fit scrambling through terrain like this. It looks pretty rugged.

He turned around to see what you were taking pictures if. I like this composition a lot.

Very well done and thanks for posting

Nice composition, it could have been better to ajust the shadows to get a deeper sky.
Well caught.

This image is wonderful, but does lack color. Perhaps you could bump up the saturation a bit. It is a breathtaking image and only needs, like you said...warming up. Certainly is a rare POV....

This bighorn makes a nice silhouette even if the best part of a donkey is on view. Well seen and adapted from your planned landscape Radu. Good job.
