[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Marmot is a large ground squirrel found in the mountainous terrain of the Rockies and Sierras of the United States and of the European Alps. The name comes from Low Latin "mures Montani" which means "mountain Mouse".

This Marmot was found at the Forest Canyon Overlook on Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park at an elevation of nearly 12,000 feet (3670 meters). This little critter was very friendly and was not at all scared of us humans. he walked right up to me and actually crawled on my foot with it's front paws. So he wasn't very difficult to photograph. It's tameness is a testament to the number of people who visit this alpine environment every summer (it is not accessible in the winter)as Trail Ridge Road is the highest continuous highway in North America that reaches an elevation of 12,200 feet (3730 meters)and is the only road in Rocky Mountain National Park that easily takes people to this high elevation environment. Rocky Mountain National Park sees at least 4 million visitors every year mostly in the summer when Trail Ridge Road is opened

Bellissimo primo piano (un soggetto veramente confidente), eccellenti dettagli del muso e del pelo, belli i colori, buona esposizione con poca luce. Grazie e complimenti. Ciao Maurizio.

Hi Paul

Lovely close up shot of this marmot. You have caught a nice catchlight in the eye and the fur is beautifully detailed. Nicely sharp.
