[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hi everyone yes it is me, every once in awhile I try to be a landscape photographer but it never feels right. I see what Evelynn Smith and Paul Haynes can do and I am in awe. I see what I believe to be an opportunity to capture a beautiful scene, but I never do it justice. So here is an attempt to capture the beauty at the top of Two Top Mountain in Montana. We rode snowmobiles for 22 hours on two days while we were in West Yellowstone and had a blast. This day we were in Gallatin National Forest and our trip took us through the states of Montana, Wyoming and Idaho. We saw so much beauty I can not begin to tell you. So have a look and tell me what you think I could have done to improve this shot because I need help.

beautiful light and good quality in this very attractive land scape subject!!!

Hi Rick

What a great winter scene was captured here! Light was used very nice, too. Bravo and TFS.

Good to see your picture after a long time, Rick.
This is a brilliant shot and you are being modest about it.
The viewpoint is excellent and the landscape image has a very good depth of view. The snow clad tree tops look wonderful in the foreground.
I envy you for this exciting trip through the states I would love to see with my own eyes.
Thanks for a lovely glimpse of it in winters.

hello Rick

Western North American beautiful landscape photo you did
with the winternal scenery, fine POV, fine wide angle framing,
lovely trees and mountains of the background, TFS

Hi Rick,

Well...since you asked, I'll tell you what I would do with this scene. I realize you were impressed with the wide expanse of the scene and wanted to capture it all. Sometimes that doesn't make for the best composition because the image may lack a focal point. There are several strong points...probably too many. You have two main tree clumps in the front and those nice white peaks in the distance. I did a workshop limiting the focal points and moving the horizon out of the center.

I'm jealous of your adventure... maybe someday....... sigh....

Evelynn : )

Hello Rick,

This is a beautiful wintry/snow shot with lovely natural landscape, details & POV. Well taken & presented.

Anyone who rides snowmobiles for 22 hours in 2 days must be attached to the outdoors and its many elements.

Stay safe out there Rick & TFS.

Hi Rick
What a beauty!
Winter give us so many opportunity!
And you choosing the best!
Warm congratulation for this wonderful shot!

Hy Rick
A lot of snow! A real pleasure and delight to the eye and to the camra. Tha landscape is impressive, and I understand very well your tendency of capturing all. Maybe I would do the same like you, many times we are really impressed by the view in front of our eyes. And, actually, we want to share with evrybody those beauties. And we do not have inspiration maybe to analize the scene for a perfect compozition.
I like Evelynn ws and her idea to chanege the horizon line. I am tryingg also to stick a little bit to the rules, even after, on the computer with some pp.

All the best,

Hi Rich
Wonderful winter capture!
Great combination :white of the snow and the green of the trees!

Hi Rick

I like this shot because it tells/shows the story of the massive snow storm and high winds which stuffed the pine trees with snow. Great capture.

Hello Rick,
A gorgeous wintry landscape scene. I can only imagine the amount of snow and wind force it took to encase those pines like this. The beautiful mountains in the BG almost remind me of ocean waves.
Super sharp detail and vivid rich colors shown with excellent exposure!! A very peaceful looking spot, I can definitely see why you enjoyed this trip so much. Great work!!
