Zephyr Anglewing

[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
This is the first butterfly photo I have gotten this year. I have seen several quickly fly by me, but never had one stop and pose for me until this one did.
This Polygonia zephyrus, or Zephyr Anglewing landed about 15 feet from me and allowed me to approach to good photo distance before it flew off. I was initially confused about the identification of this bug because of the light colored edges of the wings on it. One of my field guides says Polygonia silvius have that field mark. However, there was no mention of it for the P. zephyrus. But the markings of this bug indicate the identified species.
The photograph was taken while I was wandering one of my favorite areas in town, the Dry Canyon Trail of Redmond, Oregon. |

A very good clear close up picture. Good colour, it stands out well against the background. Good focus. Well done. TFS.
Kelly.
Great shot, what a pretty butterfly. Greeting from Turkey.
