Belding's Ground Squirrel
 |
|
[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
The Belding's Ground Squirrel, or Spermophilus beldingi, is another rodent common in the high desert areas of central Oregon. Nicely blending in to its surroundings, the shy critter lives in small communities within burrows. They are hard for me to approach to get decent photos. However, when I found myself looking down on a burrow, I waited and they soon appeared.
Most people in this area consider the rodent a pest. |

Hi Lauren,
You captured the squirrels on their "pop-up" and I think it's a funny picture. However, these fellows are well adapted to the colors of their environment and increasing the contrast would have helped emphasizing your subject.
I tried to make some adjustments in a quick workshop, I hope you don't mind.
Regards,
Toni.
