When it comes to the king of summer glory, "Rainier Reigns". I doubt there can be another spot on Earth where wildflowers are more wonderful and profuse than they are on Mt. Rainier. There are whole hillsides and sweeping meadows full of them; and small rock gardens and trails lined with them. (see workshop.) We thought we might miss them this year but due to late snows the flowers are also late at the higher elevations.

Shooting was a challenge. The even light was helpful but the howling wind demanded a lot of patience. More intimate shots were easier than a vista like this as I wanted some depth of field but also needed a very fast shutter speed.

I just viewed the uploaded image and it does look a bit light on my display. I darkened it quite a bit before uploading. I wonder how PC's are viewing it.???

Hi Evelynn

Indeed Mount Rainier is majestic both as a geologic formation and as a biodiversity, but when it comes to summer wild flowers, it's heaven!
I saw MANY shots taken by many good photographers here and during this season, but i can't seem to get enough of.
Your shots here are superb and they show exactly what a great feeling it can be to take a hike around there. This wide view looks great and has gorgeous elements across its entire depth.
Firstly, the colorful flowers in the FG gather a lot of attention and enhance the chromatic palette of the entire vista. Then the small bunches of trees that contrast with everything else and broaden the dynamic range of the photo. And finally the impressive mountains and even the clouds that guard over the vegetation.
You did well to pump the ISO a bit here and get good sharp details. I see you have a new camera body and i'm pretty sure it renders good quality images at 400.
To answer your question, on my PC with my Benq monitor, the images look ok in terms of light (it's bright in the upper part but with a good dynamic range and if i'd be any darker, it would probably loose some details in the trees).

Overall, lovely work!
Bravo and TFS

Hello Evelynn,
What a beautiful place on Earth! You made a very attractive photo, very well composed, with a good DOF, and so much interesting details, including the incredible carpet of flowers. The light and the colours are excellent. This place must be a paradise for naturalists... Thanks for sharing,

You certainly have taught me something about my own state Ev...composition-wise it is super. The very nice and located blending of colours is also swell...You do justice to an area I am no longer capable of getting to...leg problems and no more scooter...I have a high end monitor and it works good for me..Maybe only older CRT's would have problems...but I'm not certain many have those any longer.

Good morning, Evelynn!

Gorgeous landscape shot....it's simply Wow!
The sharpness is to its best and the POV couldn't be better. The multi-colors of the flowers in the FG collectively give great contrast to the peaks with partial snow coverings. The landscape is simply majestic and the cloudy bring into the picture. Very well seen!

Thanks for posting.

hello Evelynn,
Happy to see that you are back on TN. I appreciate a lot this picture with these gorgious wild flowers. I have seen a lot of alpine meadows, but never so colorful. It looks like in one of my recurrent dreams, where I'm walking with my son among meadows like this.
I like the point of view you have chosen putting the flowers in the foreground and opening on the mountain landscape in the back.
Very well done!
Take care

Hallo Evelynn
In my personal opinion this is the pic of the day! How beautiful is this scenery that unfolds in front of my eyes. The whole photograph is candy for the eyes and food for the soul. It has an absolute tranquil and peaceful atmosphere that surrounds it. It is picture perfect. I am not exaggerating about what I am about to say: "I wish you could feel my heart pounding when I saw this landscape, as it is incredible. The colours of all the elements of nature, the fields and fields of flowers are just wonderful to look at." I stand in awe looking at this piece of the Creation, which you have captured so well. It was a sheer delight to stop by such a showpiece. Thanks for sharing. My best regards.

Hi Evelynn!

A place from a fairytale.. When I visited Mount Rainier once - also in summer - I didn't see this type of colorful vegetation, still I liked it very much. But this scene is even more beautiful.. TFS!

Hello Evelynn
It's so nice to see you posting again. I've really missed your wildlife and landscapes images.

This is very, very beautiful with so many brilliant colours and textures. It's interesting to see the top of the mountain in the background surrounded by cloud. Mt. Rainier is a beautiful place and you captured perfectly.
TFS Janice

I'm stunned at the sheer natural beauty of this scene! Oh to wander through that meadow...bliss! You chose a wonderful POV to show the entire landscape at it's best. True the light could be more 'giving', but the composition really makes up for it here. First class, well done.

Hi Evelynn,
I will go along with Paul and Horia on the light. It looks OK to me except for the upper left corner. But that is probably more a cloud thing than an exposure thing. Anyway, the view over the bed of beautiful flowers is wonderful and I think that it is something you have to sea for real to fully experience the 'grandeur' of it.

Hi Evelynn,
phantastic scenery. On alpine meadows in Europe we also have a splendid profusion of flowers in summer, but your Mount Rainer slopes certainly surpass all I have seen so far. Also, August 10 definitely seems to be quite late in the year for such a glorious mountain spring, apparently made possible by late and long lasting snow and rather cool and cloudy weather in July.
The ridge of blue mountains touching the clouds are forming an excellent background, while the very clear air is providing deeply contrasting colours. An excellent image of a most beautiful landscape of mountains, taken with very good timing.
With thanks, and best regards,

Really wonderful landscape, excellent photo job!
