An easy climb, Mount Leona offers far-reaching views and a chance for you and your dog to explore some lonely country. That’s the good news. The bad news is that ol’ Leona has been through some tough times. Wildfires in 2001 scorched her summit, and earlier fires raised havoc on her eastern slopes. The burnt areas, if left alone, will do just fine over time; however, this is range country and wayward bovines haven’t been allowing the mountain to recover. Still, the views are wonderful and there are nice pockets of primeval forest along the way. Raptors catch thermals above while busy nuthatches work the woods. Your dog’s ears will constantly be piqued as she tries to decipher the nonstop avian cacophony. City dogs may be intrigued by the “mooing deer” that linger at the trailhead. “Mittens, that’s where hamburger comes from!”

Taken with 1.5 megapixel camera

Hello Robert!
Very interesting take. Fine light and bright, fine colours. Sophisticated saturation.
Good note.

Hello Bob.
Fantastic landscape in splendid light and colours. The green is so beautiful. A very atmospheric shot, love the colours and movement in the clouds, excellent dof and POV.Best regards Siggi

Hi Bob,

Awesome scene and great note! The POV is outstanding, great idea with the crop too. Looks like you have done a good job to photograph the mountains and scenery in all their glory. Slightly dramatic mood from the overcast clouds too. Awesome work!
TFS and have a nice night!

Good morning/evening Mr. Shannon! What a magnificent view indeed my friend. Wow, living along those great hills and vales must be really something. So sad to learn about the devastating fires in the area.
You now, ... it is true that the some parts of that image are very saturated and have a heavy magenta cast, but hey... that image was taken with 1.5MP camera, and that fact only deserve respect. Bravo! I like that presentation with your stories, indeed! Have a great week Robert!
Regards,
George Veltchev

Hi Bob.
Another excellent landscape from you. I like the snuggy framing with beautiful tiers. Well managed light and shadow. Thanks and kind regards - Jusni

Thanks for the photo and the info.

Great read Bob, I always wondered where Wendy's got their beef..You know, "Where's the beef"!
And now I know ;-}
Well done.

A beautiful and wild country, no doubt Bob, captured in a moody atmosphere. That shallow depression in the upper middle portion of your photo somewhat resembles the lopsided crater of Mt. St. Helens, a majestic mountain itself...
Cheers,
Mehmet

Hello Bob,
a very special capture that render a special colour view. Very lively mountain and details are seen as much as the snow and the trees.
The clouds play a good role in giving some dramatic effect.

Regards,
Foozi

Hi Bob,
Lovely scene Bob, I have always wondered how a fire can ravage a forest almost completely but leave tiny patches of trees in the middle of the devastation. This image shows some of those.

A fine view of Mount Leona showing the scars of fire. Superb lighting and composition with the cloud shadows in the FG. I guess with increased human activity and climate change we are in for more fires...
Thanks and take care Bob,
Ivan

Hallo Robert,
a very beautiful landscape, i like the contrast between lights and shades, a nice composition with a perfect perspective
TFS
Best regards
Maurizio

Hi Bob,

The point of view is sending my eyes toward the summit of the mountain which is giving depth to the composition. The cloudy sky is sending a light which is giving different tints to the colors. It is well framed. Have a nice day.
