[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Colville National Forest disproves the widely held notion that Washington state lies flat east of the Cascade Mountains.

Today's 1.1 million acre forest was first shaped over 10,000 years ago by Ice Age glaciers that carved three major valleys of today's Columbia, San Poil-Curlew, and Pend Oreille River flowing north into Canada before entering the Columbia River.

These million acres in the northeast corner roll like the high seas. Three waves of mountains run from north to south, separated by troughs of valleys. These ranges -- the Okanogan, Kettle River, and Selkirk -- are considered foothills of the Rocky Mountains.

Nice panorama from your archives Bob.
Must be at a high altitude to see so much snow in July, though there is snow below the tree line.
Great quality for its 'age' at 5+ years. As I remember national forests in the USA have a partial nature reserve status, so that both wildlife and timber sources are protected, but you can correct me if I'm wrong.
Thanks and enjoy your weekend,
Ivan

Hello Bob,
The composition showing the pines and rolling hills in the foreground and the majestic snow covered mountains in the BG makes for a very attractive landscape image.
I must admit I have never been to Washington, but hopefully someday Rosie and I will make a trip out to visit and explore such areas as this. Beautiful work!!

An amazing shot, Bob and a lovely read for a note! Could this shot have been a little larger, I wonder?
Cheers!

Hi Bob.
I live in steppe and we have not forests as well as mountains. I watch such nice pictures with great pleasure and some melancholy (I have not opportunities to make far trips). Pictured scene is lovely and its features are reproduced very well including charming clouds in the blue sky. Thanks a lot and kind wishes.
Alexei.

Hallo Bob
Beautiful indeed. How serene is the view in front of me and I am sure it must have been just as peaceful whilst you where there. The colours so true to nature are ever so beautiful. I am sure I can smell the freshness of the unpolluted air. This image has tranquility written all over it. Thanks for sharing. Best regards.

Hello Bob,
it is a dream for those who dont have the snow to be there. The distance view is so inviting and the landscape is just like a dream for me.
Lively and beautiful - the snow and the clouds.

regards,
Foozi

Hi Bob,

The distance between the trees and the summit of the mountain is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is allowing me to see the details and colors of the mountain scenery. The quality of the light is enhancing the beauty of the colors. Have a nice day.

Hello Robert !
Wow, this is such an impressive landscape ! I love the different layers, first the green hills with trees, then the majestic mountains covered in snwo, and at last the big clouds in the sky. Fantastic composition. It must be wonderful to stand in this place and to watch this in real - I envy you ! Very well done !
