Eu estava esquiando em Mountain High (California) quando olhei em um buraco na neve e vi essa mariposa se escondendo do vento gelado da noite. Aproveitei que estava com minha máquina e a trouxe p compartilhar com vcs.

Amazing. I wonder how long this moth could survive in low temperature. Great details and quality, really surprising composition with this insect on the snow. TFS!

Escondendo do frio, na neve?????
Ótima foto.

Andrieux, your note makes your shot more interesting!Good macro on the snow...Thanks for sharing

Hi Andrieux. I love your moth.
It is a Silverstriped Hawk Moth, Hippotion celerio, also known as the Vine Hawk moth. Its foods include fuschia plants and grape vines.
It has been a visitor to New Zealand for over a hundred years, but is not thought to actually breed here.
Thanks for sharing this, Cheers, Steve.

Perhaps it is frozen to the snow:) Very good macro shot Andrieux. It is very sharp and clear. Well done.

Andrieux, Very good detail & sharpness in your moth. Interesting shot in that it looks so out of place on the snow like this. Well done!

Hi Andrieux
A brilliant exposure with good textures here on this Hawk Moth. I see Steeve has Id's it too. No nits, TFS

Great document of a migrant hawkmoth surviving under very hard conditions. I have never even thought of seeing a hawkmoth in the snow. Incredible. Thank you for sharing this well focussed close up! Best regards,
Peter
