Another Little Blue to share, I captured him at the Franklin Locks. It's a somewhat popular spot to swim for the locals, but if you walk up a ways most of the bipeds are gone! Yeah! This fella was out looking for something good to snack on, and he was fast. He nailed a couple of small fish, but I missed any decent capture of that. Hope you like him :)

I will be back later tonight to check in on everyone. Another busy day, we are running to Sanibel Island! Have a wonderful day.

The little blue heron is a small heron. It is about two feet tall with a wingspan of about 40 inches. It has slate-blue feathers with a maroon neck and head. Its bill is gray with a black tip and it has gray to blue legs and feet. Its long bill is gray with a black tip and it curves slightly downward. It has yellow eyes and black legs. Males and females look alike. Young little blue herons are white and have blue bills with a black tip and dull green legs.

The little blue heron breeds from New England south to Florida. It also breeds on the Gulf Coast north to Illinois. Occasionally it breeds in Southern California and New Mexico. It winters on the Gulf Coast and on the Atlantic Coast north to New Jersey. The little blue heron is also found in the tropics.

Hi Ange,
This Little Blue Heron is lovely. Great that the image was taken in a natural habitat. The lovely shades of green in the vegetation look good too. Well seen and a great moment captured.

Hi Ange,

Such a pretty picture in the lovely setting. The blue beak is wonderful. The sharp details of the heron stand out so well against the green.

Hi Angela

Excellent shot - the composition is strong and the contrast between the heron and the vivid green of the leaves works well.

That is such a beautiful bird.
I have never seen one in real life until last week, when I was down in Orlando for my spring vacation.
I like the way you have captured him in his natural habitat.
The details are sharp, and the colors are very natural.
TFS. : )
