Hello! Looks who's here :) Sorry I have been MIA, just super busy.

Another one of my favorite birds to capture. This Tri-Coloured Heron was very friendly and did not mind me up so close and personal.

Wiki Says:

The Tricolored Heron, Egretta tricolor, formerly known in North America as the Louisiana Heron, is a small heron. It is a resident breeder from the Gulf states of the USA and northern Mexico south through Central America and the Caribbean to central Brazil and Peru. There is some post-breeding dispersal to well north of the nesting range.

Tricolored Heron's breeding habitat is sub-tropical swamps. It nests in colonies, often with other herons, usually on platforms of sticks in trees or shrubs. In each clutch 3-7 eggs are typically laid.

This species is about 56 cm(22 in) long, with a 96 cm(38 in) wingspan and weighs 350 g. It is a medium-large, long-legged, long-necked heron with a long pointed yellowish or greyish bill with a black tip. The legs and feet are dark.

Adults have a blue-grey head, neck, back and upperwings, with a white line along the neck. The belly is white. In breeding plumage, they have long blue filamentous plumes on the head and neck, and buff ones on the back.

Tricolored Heron stalks its prey in shallow or deeper water, often running as it does so. It eats fish, crustaceans, reptiles and insects.

This is a great closeup portrait! The hard light mad this exposure very difficult I guess.

However I like the pose, the crop and the composition very much. Where did you take this photo?

Very nice...Great color and detail...It's amazing to see such a close-up(macro) of a wild bird...Informative note...

great colors, except for the base of the beak where it's a bit overexposed. fantastic focus and a very good pose. they eye is nice and the background is good.

Hi Angela,
Interesting portrait of very nice heron. Ilike the hard light here, but maybe not help the contrast with shadows in the face.
Best regards

Hello Ange,
Great close-up of a Tricolored Heron. Though the light was difficult, causing ovcerexposure in places, the colors are generally good, as is the sharpness and composition.
Maybe with such strong light it is safer to underexpose a little, but it's a good shot.
TFS and best wishes, Ivan

Hi Angela,
A very good picture of the tri-heron!
Excellent POV to bring us this clear and good details of this bird.
You had a very strong upper light, but managed it pretty well, we can enjoy the beauty of the reddish feathers at the end of the neck.
I like so much the compostion used with the folded neck of the bird and their long beak.
First time I see this specie, so thanks!
Congratulations and thanks also for share it.
My best regards,
