Eastern Pondhawk
Erythemis simplicicollis

I followed this dragonfly down a fence line covered with grape vines while looking for a beautiful 4' rattlesnake that I had seen there a few days before. Then all of a sudden, "Wham", it darted down and grabbed a grasshopper. It then flew to a near-by grape leaf and proceded to have lunch...

Hello Jim.
Very fine portrait of an Eastern Pondhawk that is sharp and taken in fine lighting. Nice composition on the grapeleaf against a pleasing dark Bg.
TFS and best wishes, Ivan

nice action capture. focus and colors are good although it was a little hard for me to see where the grasshopper was.

Be very careful stalking those rattlers! Seems they're out en masse lately.

The lighting is very good and you got some great colors and color contrasts! :)

Eating grape leaves eh? Well we shall soon have to put a stop to that. Cannot mess with our wonderful Tejas wine sources:-)

Your pictures are taking on a story mode and it is appealing. Adds to the picture which might otherwise have gone unnoticed. I just read something by the "boss" in Forum about notes...and I think you are doing the things folks are looking for.

Might I add, due to the inclusion of the grape leaf, it becomes a distinctive picture!
