"Take a walk with me....We'll leave the cabin early before dawn and walk down to the lake to fish. Wait you fish and I'll take pictures of an occasional bear eating berries..." I said one day to my 5 son's and 1 girl.

It was a mere 4 miles by roadside, but by path through the mountains it was faster yet more dangerous. From cabin downhill to Curlew Lake and it's tributary full of rainbow trout we walked. Once a year for the fishing in order the kids say they had fished that year. ...and the lake is still full of trout I hear...I know why as well...nobody catches them, they only speak of them there.

Curlew Lake is a natural lake surrounded by and full of natural things including pine and fir as well as tic bush and Burdock. It is nestled in the glacier-carved hills north of Republic, Washington, is a spring- and stream-fed lake named for the birds that once frequented the area. It is at 2354 feet elevation. In the winter, which is long, it is frozen over completely of course. As to the RR tracks, they make a good place to fish from but no longer carry passengers as they did in 1890. The lake is surrounded east and west by two National Forests, The Colville and the Okanogan, both of which are home to cougar, black bear, coyote and a thousand critters......I have seen just about everything with exception of Grizzly. Only a handful have seen one....but they are there...

I'm just a passenger
on this old freight train
I ride the boxcar
through the night
I doesn't matter
where I might get off
It doesn't matter where I lie. -Neil Young

Paysage grandiose qui dégage calme et sérénité.
Bonne journée.

This is one of your best views yet Bob,

I love the composition, the lake reflecting the background is classic.
The trees look lush and green.
I'm not a fisheman, but I can't help thinking if I was wild campinf there, I would be!

Gorgeous scene - stillness and peace...great reflection and wonderful colors. Perfect composition! Always good stuff. :)

Hello Bob,
What a peaceful mirror this lake! Are you sure to regret you didn't see a Grizzly? He is a splendid animal, but really wild, I know. Sometimes the Nature required us to abdicate our feelings, to make safe our families. But if you are sure to see him safely, please do it and take a shot...But please, take care!

Hello Bob
Another wonderful shot with gret note,
Perfect compositio,lighting and POV,
fantastic colors, Superb shot,friend.

This is a beautiful place, Bob.
The landscape is well framed, keeping the lake off center and flanked by beautiful woods on either side.
The depth of view is fantastic.
Thanks for sharing this lovely image.
