All sunsets are beautiful, some just happen to be better than others. The great thing is you can go to the same spot every night, but no two are ever the same. Atmospheric conditions and angle of the sun are always changing.

Since I live about 800 miles from the nearest ocean beach, I try to make the most of my time there while on vacation. I spent every night at a different beach taking sunsets into the Gulf of Mexico. Many of them have piers, buildings, or people in them due to the crowds and over building on all of Florida's coastline. I was able to find this space of open beach at Treasure Island Florida. A very wide and flat beach. A small dune of Sea Oats allowed me have a nice foreground element for this shot.

Have a great weekend

Scott

Quite right, my friend - everything about nature is perfectly unique.
Actually, i believe it was Aristotel who once said that there are absolutely no 2 things in this world that are perfectly identical...Nothing!

This is indeed a very beautiful sunset photo and that small sand dune and the sea oats in the FG look excellent there. The shapes and contour of the coulds in the sky are just a bliss and together with the rest of the elements creat this charming and harmonious composition.

Bravo, TFS and enjoy your vacation!

Hola Scott,
Un paisaje simple, pero muy agradable; los pastos en frente rompen la monotonía del mar. Muy bien ubicdo el sol en la imagen.

I love your Treasure Island - just a tad smaller than Treasure Island in Fiji!!
Beautifully composed Scott, with the break in the clouds above the grasses of the island. Stunning colours - quite wonderful

Hi Scott.
What a superb low POV and amazing view. The DOF is terrific. The composition (I mean the set of pictured objects and their location are fantastic. Delicateness of colour and light tones are impressive too. True art picture executed with great taste and skillfulness. My compliments and warm wishes.

Hi Scott,

Indeed what some members said:"Fantastic moment". The FG whith that small dune. So simple, but oh so beautiful. And what do you think about the sun reflection in the sea?? And the highlighted clouds. And, and, and, and.....I live also on the coast and I like this sunsets so much. They are every day so different, but so beautiful. Thanks for sharing. Regards and TFS Bob

You have captured the essence of this beautiful view, Scott. The depth of view is phenomenal here and the colors and contrasts outstanding.

Hello Scott,
Florida sunsets are something I have always liked a lot. I like very much this composition with the lonely patch of grass that makes the shot not just another trivial post-card. Very nice clouds too.
Best greetings,
Michal

Hi Scott!

You're right - even in big city there isn't such thing like two similiar sunsets. This one looks great - especially big formations of clouds. Flat beach, like Polish ones, but small dune made good composition.

Talking about Florida - did you saw new TV serie Burn Notice? It's quite funny.

Scott,
First of all let me tell you how this photo affects me.
Saturday, after getting news that my older brother, who lives in Treasure Island Florida, passed away, I got online looking for some peace and distraction to help me stop thinking of him and his unexpected death. You know how your mind races in times like these.
I thought I'd browse TN because often when I seek peace and quiet at home I'd either call you to meet me or just go down to the Watershed Nature Center by myself. That's what friends are for huh?
I browsed your latest photo and you had this Treasure Island Sunset posted and I was stunned. It was more than just a photo. It has a special meaning because my brother lived and died there and it was a coincidence that you had posted this, a coincidence that I found it shortly after I got the bad news. You know I grieved for just a short time....but I kept thinking we all have to go sometime. He was a great guy and I'll never forget him. I want to thank you for something that you probably don't understand but this photo gave me peace......it felt like a sign from a friend.

About the photo:
I like how you have added the foreground vegetation, the photo wouldn't be the same without it. I also think you chose a good time for the cloud formation and the timely sunset works great here. the f/16 at 100 ISO was wise. It gave you enough detail yet no noise. I would have probably chose a 400 but that's mine probably wouldn't have been as nice!
I wonder if the treasure is buried right under that dune of sea oats?
Thank you my friend,
Scott

Hi Scott,
I lke the way the sun is reflected on the clouds, it gave the clouds a very beautiful golden glow. I am impressed about the perfect exposure, getting the sun in such great condition without loosing too much of the details in the seascape area. The tranquil feel is perfectly captured in this photo. The sea oats do add a lot to the composition and gives great balance to the composition. I do find the barrel distortion slightly disturbing.

Niek

Hello Scott,
Superb capture of this sunset, I don't know how I could miss this! I love the low POV showing that little island of grasses in the foreground. The sky is fabulous together with that strip of silvery water. Wonderful colours!
TFS and best wishes, Ulla

Hi, Scott.
Fantastic sky and excellent exposure of all. Like composition too.

Hi Scott,
marvellous arena of light. Wonderful combination of chilly blue colours and glowing red. I remember you have shown that fabulous place of white sands some time ago. And again, I feel drawn into an icy scene of early frost at first glance. I always have to force myself to read the name of the subtropical place it was taken. Wonderful unspoilt place. Hope it will stay that way.
Thank you! With best regards,
Peter

Hello Scott,

Hi Scott

So what? It's an old posting, but just now when I opened it on my screen it provided
me with new delight. Compositionally it is great with 3 distinct zones on the horizontal
plane; sandy beach and strip of ocean, reflective clouds with a blaze of sunset colours,
and high above it all we see the deeply coloured open sky of Treasure Island. The tuft
of sea oats provides additional interest in the foreground while the tiny image of the sun
actually presents a perfect measure of scale and perspective. Suddenly I realised what
vast area this image really covers. To round it off the beautiful image is draped in lovely
rich tones and sharp details that presented pleasing visual stimuli.

Well done and TFS.
Have a great weekend.
Regards
Loot
