|The growth of crystals is always fascinating, particularly to chemists like me. Ornate systems like this often show patterns of seemingly organic growth, much like a plant sending out stems and branching. |
This shot is of a car window in the morning after it had sat in my driveway for the night. There were 3 cars and every window of every car had a different pattern; all were plant-like in their growth.
It would be interesting to see the fine structure on the bottom right, just above the corner. There is a curving horizontal string of evenly spaced flash reflections that matches the pattern repeat visible in the photo. But the features responsible for the reflections are not themselves directly visible.
tech details- an on camera flash was used, but shot at an angle to avoid direct reflection from the underlying glass; some sharpening and lots of contrast were added in PS; width of major stalk from top left corner to bottom center is about 1 cm. The small amount of red in the upper right is not artifact but actual color from the interior of the car.

Winter is a great artist! And you have transmitted us one of these marvellous pieces of art. I like the patterns and shapes a lot.
From the technical point of view, your picture lacks a bit of contrast and sharpness. I'll try a workshop...
Very nice and rare here on TN object. Nice structures and textures. I think that Markus did a good job in his WS
