[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I took this image while dricing to the Clarno Unit of the John Day Fossil Beds in Central Oregon. It appears that these tufts-mounds are or were basalt flows that rose up during the Miocene Period when there were many volcanic ebents that turned this area from a sub-tropical jungle and sea to what is now a dry and arrid landscape.
I used a polorizer to enhance color and for lighting control.

Wow, beautiful bright colours on this one Steve, I like it a lot. It is sharp, the colours are natural yet vivid, the sky is blue and contrasts sharply with the golden hills. Thanks for sharing, it is perfect.
