I took this also at San Angelo State Park. Same day as the Pyrrhuloxia shot. This is a male Northern Cardinal of course. The birding area at the park has a small building where you can sit and take photos out the windows. The area has no less than 15 different species of birds. There are also deer, javelina, armadillos, rattlesnakes, and a host of other animals. You just have to be there at the right time.

The Sun was begining to backlight the area so he is a little dark on the back side. Hope you like it.

Hi Billy

Excellent posting - great POV and spot-on sharpness and exposure. I especially like back-lit subjects.

Dude...You must be military...I know that term:-) I was more of a point man...but that was before all the fun began...A wonderful image of this cardinal...I know the bird well...It is a rather unique pose for it..Or lets say it is unusual for someone to get an imafge with it in the pose....I would say something cute but I don't want to get caught in the daily dozens...

That's a wonderful shot - so sharp and clean. Great angle and composition. Wonderful pose. A beauty!!!

Hi Billy,
this is a beautiful bird very well fotographed, I like the composition and the delicate colours of the image, great job

Hey Billy,
Must have missed this one a long the way, mate that 5d is paying dividends, superb shot, love the POV, very good detail, nice eye catch, points will come, their A.W.O.L at the moment every time I use my Pc at work the icons disappear, yeah I know its called a "Foxtrot Golf" :o)

Hi Billy,
Yes a bit dark, but clear details and a great pose. Perhaps manually pumping up the flash intensity under these lighting conditions would've helped?
Well done & have a Great Weekend!
