I got this shot at San Angelo State Park at the wildlife viewing area. Some friends had put slices of orange for the birds and as it turns out the woodpeckers love it. I really don't know the purpose for the odd position he is using, but I guess it works for him.

Hi Billy . What an unusall pose you have captured . he has turned his head upside down to get at the orange. great detail and rich colours. A good pOV/DOF. well done TFS.

Interesting point of view and I like it. I've heard one can attract them with oranges and I plan to give that a try myself, especially since the birds are coming back.

I like this composition because it is unusual. Good lighting, nice details, and the pose is unique.

Hi Billy.
Great image here my fiend. Unusual pose, but it is very nice. Good focus, and sharpness.
I guess it is great idea to feed this woodpeacker with oranges. I will try too.
Saludos Billy.

Hello Billy !
Wow, this is an amazing capture ! The pose of the bird is wonderful, quite unusual, I really love it ! I wonder why he is eating like that, but well, if it works for him... Nice sharp details, beautiful composition and POV, natural colors. Very well done !

Hi Billy,

I love the position he is in! It reminds me of bird who is too big for a feeder but manages to contort himself to get some seeds. He seems to be enjoying the orange. Good colors and details and nice seeing him in this activity.

Well.. lots of fiber in oranges...so watch out where you parked your rig:-)! Normally red is their colour of choice here...but honestly it might have been a bit funny had you not said how the orange got there...I love to have an opening...for my new video where I get very serious! Check it out:

Hello Billy, Incredibly sharp and colorful image. I would have a sore neck if I ate this way. The other strange thing is they like oranges, who would have thought.
Thanks Billy.

Hey Billy,
Really nice capture mate, this woodpecker has an interesting way of getting into the slice of orange, but like you said if it works stick too it, really good detail, well framed, Cheers Rick :)

Hello Billy

Wonderful detail and focus.
The orange of the plumage is complimented by the slice of orange.
Very good plumage detail and markings.
The POV is very good.
What an interesting pose you have captured.
