Barred Owl at my office window!
|[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note|
|This Barred Owl has been frequenting the neighborhood around my office since January. My office building borders part of an urban forest park in the middle of Baltimore city. It is fascinating to see so much wilderness here.|
The Barred Owl is about the size of a Red-Tailed Hawk and is active rather early for its kind. It can be seen well before sunset (sometimes in the late afternoon) as it roosts and keeps a steady watch on its surroundings. However, the bird is so well camouflaged against the trees and leaves covering the forest floor, that it is sometimes hard to spot it, unless it is facing you with its big brown eyes!
I'll be uploading new pictures of the Red-Shouldered hawks soon!

Nice d.o.f., interesting p.o.v. Colours could use a little enlivening. Cropping tighter to the owl's back might make the shot a bit catchier as it would move the point of interest away from the center.

how lucky you are to have this bird so close to you! It's not too often that we see pictures at this perspective (rather than looking up at them in trees). I like the colours and pose.
