Thorny Cure

I have, in the past, pictured rose hips. This one however lasted along with many other on same bush and were the largest I have seen in the city. Almost the size of a US Quarter. Not analogous to the Euro:-) Each small Rosehip contains vitamin C. This is why ever since the olden days of the wild west, teas were made from the foraging of Rosehips. And since they have relatively no taste, an addition of mullein leaf and honey is a good recipe to ward off or dry up a common rhino virus which we know is a cold. Although it isn't by any means a cure-all, it does resolve the problems of health to a point. And beyond that our bodies can always uses a store of vitamin C, as it is released from our bodies daily. For this reason fruits and other eatables containing vitamin C as so important in a daily diet.

Beyond healing further, I find the Rosehip a very curious yet pretty contradiction in nature. It is surrounded by thorny branches. Now that spring is arriving, my mind races ahead a half a season. This is when the Himalayan Blackberries shall begin to ripen. Picking good sources of healthy foods can be a scratchy thorny business, but well worth the while and doing it from start to finish gives us the complete picture of how our minds and bodies work.

Another central composition that works well! You portray this shrivelled Rose hip sharply and with fine colours and the composition of the stems crossing the image is just great. In contrast to the old hip the new growth is beginning to show in the red buds.
Amazing how som old things in nature can be a beautiful sight for sore old eyes!
Thanks for sharing this beauty Bob,
Ivan

Very nice composition and POV, good sharpness and excellent colors too.
Best wishes,

Hello Bob,
In Sweden Rosehip soup eaten cold as a dessert with whipped cream is an old traditional dish and very healthy apart from the cream!! These days you can buy it dry in packets and it tastes good!
This is a beautiful capture of "old age" showing fine details and lovely colours.
Many thanks and best regards, Ulla

The warm tones are visually appealing and the DOF nicely highlights the main subject. Interesting note.

Bob, you make the nicest and most beautiful pictures of rose hips and pine cones. They are more than alive, the colours remain intact and bright, the dof is fascinating me ;-) Beautiful work with the light, thank you!

Francine

Hi Bob,
Nice sharp image of this rosehip. The central comp. jumped out at me at first. I've been brainwashed! Haha by so many voices here speaking "off center comp." :-) In this image "all raods lead to the rose hip" with the diagonal lines of the branches. I see spring is budding there. We have finally received a bit of thawing just above freezing. tfs Richard

Hi Bob,

I never know what to expect you to post - you are getting very diverse. I don't think I have seen a rosehip before. Very interesting. I love its placement in the angle of the branches. The lovely red stands out very well.

Is that really a rose hip (Rosa canina) Bob? Never see one this big, but whatever it is my friend, it is a perfect take from an aesthetical viewpoint, in spite of the "center figure"s placement right in the middle of the frame, a rare phenomenon in creating a good composition!
Cheers,
Mehmet

Very sharp and well focused, the colours are dramatic and bright..the rest of the composition is as sharp as those thorns.

Good composition and nicely presented. regards h

Hi Bob,
That it a large rose hip! Well captured by your steady hand, I too like the contrast of the shriveling hip and the young buds showing spring is near. Thanks bob for this excellent posting.
Rick

Hi Bob,

The rosehip on the bent branch is an eye catcher. The details and colors of the rosehip are clear and precise. There is a good contrast between the colors. The subject is well framed. Your note has a lot of information. Have a nice day.

Pierre
